Important Tips While Using The Head Turbans

By Amanda Baird

In many Indian and Sikhs cultures, it is common to find that men often adorn the head turbans. In fact, some of the foreigners may also be required to wear it too as some as part of fitting into this culture. Some people also refer to it as the headwear. This long cloth is normally tied around and makes a fan like shape at the top. At times, it may also be tied in such a way that it creates a tail like cloth at the back. In most of these countries, this cloth is tied for cultural reasons only.

In the Rajasthan culture, a man derives respect and honor through this cloth. As it is, a man will be considered more handsome when they have tied it. In fact, during wedding occasions in their culture, this cloth is the most important attire in the dressing of the groom. Sometimes, it is also part of the gifts and presents presented as a token of appreciation and a show of respect for the groom.

However, as you will notice in many desert countries, this cloth is tied to prevent the head from the scorching sun. In fact, this was the initial idea where many people resulted to tying them to prevent the head from the effects of the hot sun. Sometimes, it is also used to pull water in dry areas from the wells. However, with time, these uses evolved and mainly incorporated diverse uses.

Even the tying styles may be different. The way men tie it may be completely different from how the women do it. This is particularly true because it has been found to result in hair loss especially in women. The tying styles also differ since in most cases they are used to celebrate special occasions. For instance, in informal settings, the way it is tied will differ from formal settings.

The other thing that may prove difficult is where to buy the best headwear. If you have moved to a new location, one of the easy ways to do this is by getting referrals. Ask around from friends and relatives on where you can buy the best cloths. Often, the result will be that you end up with quality cloths since you are asking from people who have bought from them in the pats.

Sometimes though, this method may prove to be difficult. Still, you may realize that you cannot get a good dealer even with referrals. While stuck in this situation, the best remedy is to buy the cloths based on the quality of material used to make the cloth. Mostly, cotton fabric is more recommended since it lasts longer.

At the same time, find out the purpose of the cloth before purchase. If you are buying it for special occasions, ensure that this material reflects this need. For instance, a wedding headwear may differ with the ones adorned on formal settings. The color too will differ too in these settings.

At times, it may prove hard to make all these decisions on your own. The best thing is to consult with professionals before purchase and on issues revolving how the head turbans are tied. They may also be helpful in helping you on how to avoid hair loss.
