Karl Lagerfeld Explains Why He's With Chanel for Life

Karl Lagerfeld's name has become ubiquitous with talent and diligent, hard work. The designer has held the reins at Chanel for over 30 years and has been with Fendi for about 50. In a recent meet-up with Lagerfeld and a Vogue editor, he explains his resiliency and dedication.

"I think I'm pretty lucky that I can do what I like best in perfect conditions. I don't have to fight with anybody. You know my contracts with Fendi and Chanel are for life?" he revealed. "And I don't feel tired at all. I hate slow people. Horrible."

In the interview, he goes on to describe how he distinguishes the two brands fro m each other from a creative perspective, and even shares that he's been encouraged to have his DNA tested to find out if there's a reason he's able to handle the workload he's carried for so long.

Life as a Runway: A Stylish Meet-Up at the Armory

By Guy Trebay

A crowd gathered outside the Park Avenue Armory last month for "Tree of Codes," a performance inspired by Jonathan Safran Foer's art novel that  brilliantly combined the talents of the choreographer Wayne McGregor, 15 soloists and dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet and Company Wayne McGregor, an E.D.M. soundtrack and — perhaps most exciting — optical effects and sets by the protean Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. Among those on hand were the artists Laurie Anderson and Marina Abramovic. A lot of stylish New Yorkers turned up, too.
