Getting A Discount For A Wedding Dress

By Claire Williams

Every woman will compete to be the most beautiful bride of all and this induces them to spend a lot on their grooming. Thinking that the more they spend, the more they are going to look great in the eyes of many people and their partner. This applies more for their wedding gown which brings most of every bride's appearance. A wedding dress might be a one off purchase in a woman's life but getting a beautiful and an uncommon gown doesn't have to cost a fortune. Another fact when it comes to purchasing bridal gowns is that, you can get them with a discount. Here are ways to get that dream wedding gown with a price markdown.

Get a Wedding Designer / Dressmaker

The first step on getting that discounted wedding gown is by meeting some designers during off-season. Some designers have a fixed price but some offer discounts if the wedding season is still far and customers seldom visit their shop. Collaborate with the designer to see what are the best design, color, length and cut that suits you. Make sure that you will be having a unique dress that would fit perfectly and it should be done a few months before your wedding.

If you know a designer or a dressmaker that can design and create a unique wedding dress for you, then it would be better to ask that person to help you out. You might need the person's help when it comes to purchasing the materials if you don't know exactly where to buy the cheapest goods. Work with the designer about the details of the dress and pay for his time, effort and labor. This could be way cheaper than visiting a boutique. If you are lucky enough, you might get their service for free as a wedding gift.

Purchasing in Shops / Retail Stores

Like designer's stores, discounts are everywhere during off-peak season in different retail shops. There could be times wherein some stores are organizing annual bridal sales. You can check newspaper and TV ads for updates regarding this and also, bring a friend to help you out on shopping. With many people who want to get the best but affordable wedding dress, it's going to be a struggle.

Go to major retailers which are usually found on a mall's basement or in a separate building. You can also consider going to rummage sales where slightly worn wedding dresses are being sold. The price of the products here are way too low than those that were displayed on the shopping centers. Remember to check if the dress fits you perfect before you buy it. Try buying other items on the same store such as shoes and you groom's tuxedo and see if they will cut the price of each item. Charge them all with a cash back credit card to earn a rebate which is also being called a hidden discount.
