As someone who's actually not much of a hat girl (truthfully because I prefer voluminous hair to hat head), even I make an exception when it comes to summer versions of the often-polarizing accessory. Let's be clear though: I'm not suggesting you wear one of these into the office this week—that's neither professional nor appropriate, and it's and sure to irritate your boss. However, for your extracurricular activities (whether they be a vacation, a beach day, or a simple stroll around town), the addition of a lightweight (and thus hair-friendly) summer hat has benefits beyond just making you look cool (which I must admit it does). It also gives your face and skin some well-deserved refuge from the sun's harsh rays—consideration of which would definitely make your mother proud, if she's anything like mine.
