Scouting Report: New Beginnings (and New Merch) at Dover Street Market and Comme des Garçons

On Thursday and Friday, you'll find pretty bits like a Cienne hand-woven scarf ($85), an AUrate New York choker with black onyx cabochons ($200) and a Von Holzhausen leather bucket bag ($650) at a pop-up hosted by these three direct-to-consumer brands founded by women. At 156 Spring Street.

From Thursday to Sunday, Maje will take its Parisian sensibility to the beach for a Bastille Day pop-up at Gurney's in Montauk, spotlighting its boho-chic fringed "M" bag in a new range of ice cream pastels ($295). At 290 Old Montauk Highway, Montauk, N.Y.

On Friday, the beauty retailer Bluemercury will open its first store in the Hamptons, offering all the essentials from brands like Bobbi B rown, Nars and Kiehl's and its in-house line, M61 — which has a new peptide-packed Hydraboost Body Butter ($24) — for skin that needs a little summer T.L.C. On Friday and Saturday, the ballet flats specialist Margaux will have a Hamptons pop-up, where you'll find a sweet new nappa leather demi-ballerina style with grosgrain trim and an adjustable bow ($125). At 46 Jobs Lane, Southampton, N.Y.

On Friday, Timo Weiland will be the first label to sell at the Retail Lab, a new initiative of Cadillac and the Council of Fashion Designers of America, which provides a revolving retail space for designers who don't currently have their own brick-and-mortar locations. Expect tweaked men's wear staples like a zip-front plaid shirt ($225). At Cadillac House, 330 Hudson Street.

On Wednesday, the California sunglasses brand Barton Perreira will open a New York shop featuring aviators with screwless hinges from the new technical luxury line Allied Metal Works ($495). At 42 East 66th Street.

Hitting the Racks

On Thursday, Comme des Garçons will reopen for its biannual New Beginning with extensive architectural renovations, including a new event space showcasing 18th-century punk-themed runway wonders, like a pink patent leather jacket and overalls ($10,834). At 520 West 22nd Street.

Across town, Dover Street Market will reopen for its own New Beginning on Saturday with loads of new merchandise from up-and-coming designers like a Cecilie Bahnsen trapeze dress ($1,420) and a Go sha Rubchinskiy scarf-paneled oversize sweater ($400). At 160 Lexington Avenue.

Sales

The annual ABC Carpet & Home summer sale, offering discounts of up to 60 percent on items like a Tom Dixon copper shade pendant ($625, originally $735) and loads more, including rugs, lighting, furniture, tabletop, pillows, outdoor and bed and bath, ends Monday. At 888 Broadway.

The beauty brand MAC will have its first-ever sample sale, with 60 percent discounts on recent limited editions like an All the Right Angles Contour Palette ($16, originally $40) and mainline products, starting Tuesday. At Metropolitan Pavilion, 123 West 18th Street, fourth-floor gallery.
