Life as a Runway: The Rugged Men Sporting Tweeds and Arrows

For the last five years, BDDW, the SoHo design firm known for macho handmade furniture, has held a weenie roast and archery contest in the Hudson Valley. It has drawn lumbersexuals of the dandier sort — furniture designers, creative directors, advertising executives and weekend carpenters — who don their finest houndstooth and tweeds for the occasion. This year was no exception, when some 850 guests made their way on a crisp Saturday in mid-October to the bucolic Grasmere Farm in Rhinebeck, N.Y., about 90 minutes north of the city. Dressed in semiformal attire, they roasted weenies over an open flame, petted kid goats and took aim at a bull's eye.
