Introducing Australia Institute Of Commerce And Technology Virtual Campus

By Enid Hinton

Whether just staring a college career, or a lifetime student, there are now a number of colleges and universities offering online classes. Often known as distance learning, or extended education, there are generally no certificate or degrees, unless one is also enrolled as a full or part-time college student. A good example of this type program are distance learning classes offered through the Australian Institute of Commerce and Technology virtual campus.

Most all colleges and universities, which offer opportunities for distance learning offer credit and no credit, pass or fail classes. There are also organizations which offer free courses with an opportunity for a number of different certificates. EdX is a website which offers a number of classes from different universities around the world.

There are also religious institutions which offer a number of online classes for free. One being the Universal Life Church, in which for a fee one can obtain study materials and obtain a Masters, or Doctorate of Divinity degree. The Kaballah Center also offers an online course in mystic ideology. Both of which also offer a number of certificates and degrees.

Taking classes through traditional channels can often be quite stressful. Unless working towards an undergraduate, masters, or PhD, it is often easier to take free classes and opt for a certificate rather than a degree. EdX is one program that provides this and other opportunities through offering a number of different classes from different schools.

One can obtain an honor code, verified or series certificate through a number of universities off the edX website. While some classes are offered for credit, others are not. There are still a number of benefits for completing one or more of these free classes. For example, simply having one listed on a resume can increase the chances of acquiring a job.

One of the best things about auditing classes, whether through a traditional school, or organization, is that one can complete the work at one's own pace. Once a course is complete on edX, new students can still Audit by working through the material, while past students often use the website for reference materials. Unfortunately, no certificates can be acquired by completing an archived course.

Whether through an organizational partnering with different school, or traditional channels, it can still be good to acquire a degree. For those whom are old enough that a degree is not going to matter in the working world, these edX classes can provide a great deal of information on a number of topics which can be quite useful in life, and the real world.

While traditional degrees and diplomas are often offered through universities, the edX program offers students the ability to receive these different certificates as proof of successfully completing a course. Obtaining a certificate is easy, as long as one can participate in online discussions, complete the assignments, videos and pass the tests for each section of a class.

It is also important when looking to obtain a degree to assure there is enough work in the desired area to make doing so worthwhile whether doing so on-campus, or through long distance learning programs like those offered at the institute in Australia, or Harvard Extension School in the United States.
