How to comprehend the 5 ebola transmission and precautions

By Alfred Obi

Ebola transmission precautions are strigent mesaures established for protection agianst the deadly pathogen known as ebola.

The Ebola virus is transmitted via direct contact with an infected person through skin, bodily fluids, tissues and/or blood. The pathogen is not airborne which increases the effectiveness of basic Ebola transmission precautions to stop the growth of the illness.

5 Ebola Transmission Precautions

1. Avoidance

Avoid travel to any areas where the Ebola pathogen has been spotted, especially in Africa where pandemics are becoming widespread. Any contact with patients, or the remains of patients, who have contracted the disease should also be avoided.

2. Protecting Clothing

Protecting clothing is one of the necessary Ebola transmission precautions, particularly for caregivers or medical personnel who are treating infected patients. Gloves, gowns, facial masks as well as eye shields are very important as the end stages of the disease are directed at spreading the virus as quick and far as practical through bodily liquids.

3. Cleanliness

Regular washing with soap and hot water can reduce the chance of contracting Ebola. Hand rubs containing alcohol are also efficacious in eliminating the pathogen on the skin.

6. Food

Avoid eating any food which will have make contact with an infected person. A variety of local African meat, particularly bush protein, should not be eaten.

5. Disposal of Remains

The bodily remains of folks infected by Ebola are transmissive long after death has happened. Only completely trained teams should handle the disposal of remains of infected Ebola patients. Groups need to wear required protective gear as well as use the proper hardware to dispose of remains. While cremation is recommended, equipment is not necessarily available and funeral of the remains is required in a controlled way and in area which has been put aside for such remains.

There's as yet no vaccine that has been fully developed for the Ebola pathogen so following Ebola transmission precautions is critical in stopping the spread of the disease.
