Notice The Improvements In Stadium Theater Seating Over Time

By Jocelyn Davidson

After attending various sporting events and performances at stadiums, you might have begun to wonder why the seating in these areas are arranged the ways they are. The stadium theater seating is constructed with these specific seats because it's the best way for the entire audience to view all the events taking place on the main stage. Since the stage is small, and often placed at one side of the entertainment ground, this is necessary.

Most of the time, the stage is raised in the case of concert chairs, compared to the seats in sports grounds, so you have no more mountain view when you see the seats at the back. The audience might sit on the ground level or flat surface instead of raised steps, and the stage might be in the center or at one end, where actors will come and do the act or play. Hence, the audience can view the performance without any problem as it was in stadium seating arrangement, even though the chairs are just on the flat surface.

Physically challenged women and men who have the desire to watch the shows efficiently use concourse spaces. Here, there are no chairs, and provide big space to move around with their wheelchairs. Others will use the steps to climb and reach their seats to watch the shows.

It is possible because the stage is raised to a comfortable height. This allows the audiences to view and enjoy the performance at the same time. Even though they're all sitting flat, everyone will be able to see the same stage.

Today's seats are much more comfortable than earlier days' seats. They can recline, rock, have raised arms, raised back with cushioning, and cup holders. In a few theaters, they even have leather recliner kinds of chairs for the best audience comfort.

Stadium seating today is almost as comfortable as sitting in your own leather couch at home. They can fold, have cup holders, recline, etc. This is highly different from older chair designs, where seats were rigid and completely fixed in the same position. It was uncomfortably made with hard plastics or wood, causing people to feel discomfort throughout long events and performances.

Theatre seating is similar to sport grounds seating arrangement in that the seats are also elevated. The only difference here would be that they are placed on a slope or hill, rather than solid steps. This elevation allows audience members to perfect see whatever they came to see without any obstructions in front of them, just like any stadium event with step by step elevation.

The stereo effect will be good when you sit off-center in the theater. You can hear the bass, treble, and other minute sounds very clearly. Sound technicians also sit at the center of the theater, or 2/3 back to the theater to check the sound effects during construction of the theatre setting. Therefore, you can also sit at these offset locations and still have a great sound experience during concerts or other events.
