For Skillful Graffiti Removal Aurora Is The Place To Go

By Annabelle Holman

People who have ever taken part in removing graffiti from surface understand that the removal process is harder than applying. Normally the removal method used should depend on the type of surface in question. Various methods have been developed in different parts of the world for this job. However, when in need of the best graffiti removal Aurora is the right place to pay a visit.

Some of the major removal methods include use of chemicals, sandblasting, repainting, scrubbing, and emulsifying among others. This article discusses surfaces and the best methods applicable on them. Surfaces on which graffiti is commonly applied are metal, masonry, plastic, glass, and wood. A combination of different methods may be required to achieve maximum removal on all of the surfaces named above.

Common paint thinners do fine on metal surfaces. Lacquer thinner, mineral spirits, and acetone are examples of thinners one can use. It is not bad try out other chemical products too. Graffiti remnants can be rubbed off using bronze or steel wool. Sandpaper may also work just fine. Power washing should only be used to remove deeply-seated graffiti marks.

The method to use on a wooden surface depends on the condition of wood in question. Wood that is still in good condition and has not weathered can be cleaned using mineral spirits. However, weathered wood is not suitable for using mineral spirit because it is absorbed by the wood. This drives the paint deeper into the wood. Repainting the surface can do better because power washing may also drive paint deeper.

Plastic surfaces can be cleaned by wiping them with light penetrating oil. Use of paint thinners on plastic surfaces must be avoided because they cause clouding and permanent tackiness. Sandblasting stands out as the best method to use on plastic surface. However, only hard and strong surfaces should be sandblasted. An elegant job can also be achieved on some forms of plastics by rubbing them softly with ultra-fine wool of bronze or steel.

The most challenging surfaces to clean are masonry. One of the methods that can work is pressure washing at 3000 psi nozzle pressure. The graffiti should come out at such pressures when the right make of a pressure washer is used. If this fails, sandblasting can be tried. When sandblasting, the stream should be moved regularly without remaining at one point for a long time. That can cause etching instead of cleaning. The last option to consider should be painting.

Fragility of glass makes it another tricky surface to clean. Glass surfaces also get etched easily with least efforts. Glass surfaces should be scrapped with razor blades to avoid etching or breaking them. The blade should make an angle of 30 degrees with the surface and must be used in a holder. The efficiency level of this method on glass is 99 percent. Water and ultra-fine bronze wool may be used to remove any remnants left behind after scrapping.

Some among the methods named above present certain dangers to the worker. As such, precautions must be taken to avoid injuries or harm. One of the ways to prevent risks is to wear sunglasses and respirators when working.
