General Information On Solid Color Ties

By Krystal Branch

Ties, also called neckties, are long pieces of cloth that are worn around the neck or shoulders. Often times these are applied for decorative reasons. Usually they are placed to rest under the collar of a shirt and are knotted at the neck. Clip-on, bolo, zipper, ascot or bow ties, as well as cravats are variations of this accessory. Solid color ties are just one of many styles available in modern times.

Many times these are worn by males. Still, there are females who like to wear these as well. The pieces can be purchased from nearly any retail store that has clothing and accessories in stock. Prices will vary based on factors including seller, brand, material and style.

Like most other fashion accessories, these come in a variety of styles. Some might include a design or pattern, while others might just be a single color without any pattern. There are many who prefer to own and wear the solid versions because they are easier to incorporate into outfits and pair with dress shirts. Still, what kind is worn is usually based on the preference and style of the person wearing the item. There is usually no wrong or right way, but there may be some rules if these are worn with a uniform.

Ties can be incorporated into casual or formal outfits. The material or style of each piece may help an individual choose what occasion or event it is most appropriate for. Certain jobs or positions may require that this be worn as part of a uniform. In such cases, solid versions are most common.

There is a history behind this neckwear. Some variation of these items has existed since circa 1600s. The material, use and style of the neckwear has evolved in many respects since that time period. However, they are still frequently worn today to make a fashion statement.

These may also serve as a visual symbol. This is because many people associate people who wear these with those who are of high status or importance. This is not true of all who wear them. Women and men are known to wear these pieces as part of formal wear, which adds to this symbolism. Still, there are also many options that suffice for casual wear.

Different fabrics are employed in the manufacturing process. Some of the most common materials employed: cashmere, satin, silk, wool and polyester. The various kinds may provide their own look, even if they are in one color. For example, a wool tie that is in a solid color may have more texture and dimension than a solid-color tie made of another fabric. Synthetic fabrics might snag, making them look cheap after little wear. Always keep in mind your budget and the occasion as well.

A lot of people are willing to invest in a good tie because they can go a long way if they are taken care of and of high quality. This is particularly true for solid color ties, which are extremely versatile in many wardrobes. Essentially, ties are a timeless piece when it comes to menswear.
