What Type Of Models To Use

By Dennis E. Price

Hairdressing students are always encouraged to practice their skills as often as they can in their spare time and well as in the college. Books and written work on this particular course will only go so far but on this course training and learning new styles is all the game. New students may be encouraged to work on live or plastic models during their course work. Over the months students will increase their skills by practice.

When pupils first start on this course they are only allowed to practise on plastic heads which are suitable to use as the artificial hair is great to practise on. The students can experiment with various styles and colours on the models while studying hairdressers who are working on people models.

Dummy models are only suitable to practise colours and various styles because hair cutting by students may result in a big mistake happening on the fake hair rendering the dummy unusable for anyone else to take their turn.

The longer the student is on the course the more confident they will grow in their work under supervision. Caring for clients hair and their life styles are the most important part of the job. Sometimes clients have illnesses which occur and are in a great deal of pain which hairdressers must recognise and work to prevent any further pain during their work out.

Rule of thumb when dealing with people is too talk over what they wish to have done at this appointment and constantly ask during the appointment. Remember when learning that the people are real and you are no longer working on plastic models.

Hairdressers of the future will learn to adapt and perfect their hairdressing skills by lots of practice.
