Learning How To Tie A Turban For Women

By Freda Watts

It is always a good idea to learn how to tie a turban for women especially if you are fond of wearing them at events. This garment has been worn for decades especially by the Muslim community from the days of Prophet Mohamed. However, today many people also wear them as a fashion symbol and knowing the technique of wrapping it around your head can be an added advantage.

If you have never tied the garment any time before it is better to have a turban cap to make your work simpler. However, it is not mandatory that you have it. It is effective in ensuring that your hair is completely tucked away and not visible. Besides this you will need fabric that is 15 yards long and has a width of 20 inch. Light cotton is the common material used. Place it on the top of your head and leave 8 inch to fall back behind the neck. This is what forms the tail in most designs.

Using your left hand hold the cloth in place to anchor it against the head. This will make it easier to maneuver with the right hand as you wrap the cloth. This means that it has to be held firmly in place with your left hand.

Form a horizontal circle around the head with the garment, using the right hand. Ensure that the cloth is tightly taken around the head. It should fit exactly so as not to fall down once you are done.

Always ensure that the low point of the circle is farther every time. The initial circle that you make should be having the low point situated at the back of the head. This way your left hand can easily hold down the cloth in the area nearest to the low point.

You should make some circles in the horizontal before moving to the vertical. The wraps that you had formed before is what will act as the anchor in this part of the process. Continue doing this until two feet of the material is left then go back to making horizontal circles once more. This forms a strong support for the entire accessory.

To finish you will have to tuck in the remaining part into the previous wraps to have it in position. However, you will notice that the turban is now low on the forehead. To correct this you will have to tilt the whole mass of cloth. Do this until the forehead is finally clear.

To make the design more appealing you can add another color to this piece of cloth so that a colored band appears once you are finished. A white one with an added golden color is considered classy by many people but you can always come up with unique combinations according to your taste. When you know how to tie a turban for women using this simple method only then can you explore other methods. You can learn as much techniques to do this as you want.
