Is Two People Donning Same Prom Dresses for 2013 Shameful?

By Rob Sutter

Normally, I wouldn't have put so much stock in two people wearing the same exact outfit because I don't find it to be that much of a big deal. Honestly, I think it should be taken as a compliment because it's clear that the both of them have similar and perhaps even refreshing tastes. That being said, I know that there is quite a bit of conflict when it comes to prom dresses for 2013. As such, ladies have been taking to other forms of media in order to avoid copycats.

According to an article on the New York Post, many young girls have taken to social media channels in order to avoid the same prom dresses for 2013 being worn. There have been a number of Facebook groups, for example, for young girls to sign up for which pretty much sets a new level of organization for these people. They will be able to see people who take up similar dress fashions and make it a point not to utilize them. It allows them to be creative, which is an element that companies like Estelle's keeps close.

Thanks to the implementation of such networks as Instagram, for example, photos of gowns were posted as well. Females can put up these graphics, which allows others to comment or like what they see. Receiving the opinions of others can prove to be quite viable, as long as people are more mature on the matter. With so many students deciding to take these kinds of measures up, many schools have already climbed onboard, showing support for this kind of networking within the student body as well.

If you want to know about the schools which are onboard with this, a number within New York and New Jersey have shown immense support. New Dorp High School in Staten Island along with Girls at Bronx Preparatory Charter School, to name two examples, has been open to this idea. They know that it's important for these students to compare dress types and claim certain types so that there would be no similarities. The schools understand just how vital this type of communication is.

Before coming across this story, I never saw the big deal about people going about matters the same as others, as long as they were good. I am one of those people who will call out the people I'm with if they complain about someone ordering the same entre as they did. Nonetheless, I know that prom dresses for 2013 are of far greater value because they symbolize nights that people will remember. Who's to say that students of other schools won't make use of this in the future?
